Something tells me we’ve been here before
Another Bush induced déjà vu war
Brave TV soldiers marching in your front door
No caskets allowed when they can’t fight no more
It was long ago the combat mission was through
We won hands down, victory declared in full view
If you get home alive we can’t seem to take care of you
The spoils of this war are going to a criminal few

I don’t know if there’s anyone watching us
But it’s OK because I trust the process
I believe in the power of forgiveness
And minding my own business.
I make my way in a world of harsh light
I tried to shield my eyes and lost sight
Of the beauty that pulls my heart towards what’s right
And found that darkness exists outside of night.
Well I don’t know if there’s anyone watching me
But it’s OK because I trust synchronicity
I believe in the power of synergy
And accepting my responsibility.

Who's Minding the Shop?
My heart has filed bankruptcy,
my soul is in hock.
My head has gone vacationing
who’s minding the shop?
My wandering attention span’s
a broken down bridge.
I’ve been sold right down the river
by my own consciousness.
Who’s minding the shop?
Who’s minding the shop?
my soul is in hock.
My head has gone vacationing

I slay my dragons one at a time
As they try to ambush me from behind
First come, first serve, it makes no difference to me
Got to look in all those eyes if I want to be free.
Don’t have to kill them, they don’t have to die
Just as long as I can look myself straight in the eye
Every morning it’s OK if I cry
Me and my dragons are saying our good byes.
As they try to ambush me from behind
First come, first serve, it makes no difference to me
Got to look in all those eyes if I want to be free.
Don’t have to kill them, they don’t have to die

I went out in the darkness of the day
A near full moon on stunning display
The snow crunching underneath my feet
I never knew life could be so sweet
Hop on the bus; get on a plane
A certain freedom I can’t name
Has settled into my old bones
They know where they are going home
So I can take the aches, I can take the pains
I can take the world going up in flames
So long as I do what I can
To make this place better than I am
Better than I am, better than you are
We’re all reaching for some kind of star
Be it food or cold hard cash
Now’s the time to share your stash
Share your hopes, share your dreams
Share your better world schemes
We’re all breathing the same air
But nothing about this life is fair
It is up to you, it is up to me
To make ourselves a better place to be
Perhaps we’ll change the world in time
It all starts in your mind
I can take the aches, I can take the pains
I can take the world going up in flames
So long as I do what I can
To make this place better than I am
Better than I am, better than you are
We’re all reaching for some kind of star

Well I didn’t get down on my knees but I prayed
For all the people in the world who are afraid
For themselves or someone they hold dear
You know war ain’t the way to rid the world of fear
Duck and cover
Run and hide
It don’t really matter
What side
Whether you’re for or against the war
Peace is something we can all pray for
Let’s all go where we go to pray
For some peace in each and every day
For ourselves and those we hold dear
Together we’ll shine the light on fear.

Synergistic lethargy creeps;
my passive commitment, apathy,
is an avalanche. Buries me,
Not quite alive, not nearly dead.
Chilly; frozen silence watches,
Thaws. Quiet’s reflection, smoother -
clear like glass. My shattered mirror,
The jagged shards of my illusion.
Mournful indifference yields,
grudgingly admits its own truth,
its own deception. Releases me,
finally, to feel the warmth of my own heart,
briefly.

A heartfelt apology,
offered humbly
can change reality
instantly.
Some words of encouragement,
worth their weight in gold
foster accomplishments,
empowerment.
And it’s just a small kindness
in a cruel, cruel world
that shines a light through blindness
as a life unfurls
Put some thought in the mindless
information swirl
Yeah, follow your small kindnesses
And change this cruel, cruel world.

The man said it’s the hand that holds the gun
That is soley responsible once the shooting’s begun
But I beg to differ, if you please
When the trigger fingers used to squeeze
Belong to the hands of ones Oh so young
Oh so young, too young to die
In the land of plenty, so deprived
The tears ask an anguished why
Kids shoot kids, the bullets fly
Oh so young, too young to die
I say it’s in our hands to keep kids safe
We are wholly responsible for guns being in that place
And I beg of us, we’ve got to lead
A walk through our sad realities
And hold the hands of ones Oh so young
Oh so young, ours to protect
In the name of freedom, we reject
That guns can be shielded while
Kids shoot kids, Hollywood style
Oh so young, we must protect

I believe in truth and beauty
I don’t think there’s such a thing as fair
I believe it is my duty
to show the world how much I care
I wish there was such a thing as justice
But that old lady she ain’t so blind
Still I will do my best to trust us
Hoping we all learn to be kind
Because this old world is so hard and so crazy
No use speculating what might happen next
When overwhelmed sometimes my mind becomes lazy
This ain’t the time to settle for second best
Is there still time to head off disaster
Or am I seeing something that ain’t there
I’m looking for a real newscaster
To shine a light on the world out there.
